2. DHS and Nat'l Security Group Discuss Progress in Implementing 9/11 Commission Recommendations

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Napolitano and members of the Bipartisan Policy Center's National Security Preparedness Group met on July 24, 2009 to discuss DHS' progress in implementing the recommendations outlined in the 9/11 Commission Final Report released five years ago. 3. DHS Coordinates Terrorism Prevention Exercise

On July 27, 2009, the Department of Homeland Security will launch the five-day National Level Exercise 2009 - the first national level exercise to focus on terrorism prevention - in conjunction with federal, state, local, tribal, private sector and international partners. 6. WTO DSB Considers Panel Requests from China and Canada

The World Trade Organization's Dispute Settlement Body at its July 20, 2009 meeting considered first-time panel requests by China on poultry and by Canada on bovine meat. 9. OMB Approves BIS Proposed Rule on CCL Revisions for Crime Control Purposes

The Office of Management and Budget has approved a Bureau of Industry and Security proposed rule that would revise the Commerce Control List to update and clarify certain items on the Commerce Control List that indicate "crime control" as a reason for control.
