The Commissioners of the Consumer Product Safety Commission were scheduled to vote by May 13th on a CPSC staff recommendation to adopt the most recent (2008) revision to the ASTM F963 toy standard as a mandatory consumer product safety standard, with certain exceptions. (The Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA) made the 2007 version of the toy standard, and any successor standards (unless objected by CPSC) a mandatory safety standard.) 4. USDA Seeks Nominations for National Dairy Promotion Board

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is asking dairy producer and farm organizations to nominate candidates to serve on the National Dairy Promotion and Research Board. Nominations must be submitted by June 5, 2009. (The 36-member board is authorized to design programs to strengthen the dairy industry's position in domestic and foreign markets.) 6. USDA Issues World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates

USDA's Office of the Chief Economist has issued the latest version of its World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates report which provides USDA's comprehensive forecasts of supply and demand for major U.S. and global crops and U.S. livestock. The report gathers information from a number of statistical reports published by USDA and other government agencies, and provides a framework for additional USDA reports. 8. Canadian and Chinese Minister Meet to Discuss Trade, Etc.

Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada reports that Canadian Minister Cannon is on a three-day visit to China.
