2. BIS Denies Export Privileges for Theresa Huei-Min Chang
The Bureau of Industry and Security has issued a notice announcing that Theresa Huei-Min Chang, her representatives, assigns, or agents may not participate, directly or indirectly, in any way in any transaction involving any commodity, software or technology exported or to be exported from the U.S. that is subject to the Export Administration Regulations and listed on the Commerce Control List (CCL) for two years, etc. (FR Pub 02/05/09, available at http://edocket.access.gpo.gov/2009/pdf/E9-2319.pdf)
3. Treasury Designates Kurdish Group, Added to OFAC's SDN List
The Treasury Department designated the Free Life Party of Kurdistan (PJAK), a Kurdish group operating in the border region between Iraq and Iran, under Executive Order 13224 for being controlled by the terrorist group Kongra-Gel (KGK, aka the Kurdistan Workers Party or PKK). The Office of Foreign Assets Control has also issued a notice announcing that this entity has been added to its Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) List. 4. Export Registry Form Required for Textile, Apparel Exports to Turkey
The Office of Textiles and Apparel has announced that as of February 1, 2009, all textile and apparel exports to Turkey will require an Export Registry Form. The Exporter Registry Form must be filled out and authenticated by a competent authority, such as a local Chamber of Commerce, that is authorized to approve the genuineness of signatures and seals appearing on documents. The Exporter Registry Form must then be taken or sent to the nearest Turkish Consulate to be approved. The completed and approved form must then be sent to the importer in Turkey to complete registration. 5. Three Foreign Executives Indicted for Their Roles in LCD Price-Fixing Conspiracy
The Justice Department announced that on February 3, 2009, a federal grand jury in San Francisco returned an indictment against two former executives from Chunghwa Picture Tubes Ltd. and one former executive from LG Display Co. Ltd. for their participation in a global conspiracy to fix prices of Thin Film Transistor-Liquid Crystal Display (TFT-LCD) panels. 7. WTO Issues Trade Policy Review for Guatemala
The World Trade Organization has issued its Trade Policy Review for Guatemala.
