2. DHS Reminder: ESTA Requirements Effective January 12th

The Department of Homeland Security has issued a news release reminding travelers from all Visa Waiver Program (VWP) countries that they are now required to obtain approval through the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) prior to traveling to the U.S. This requirement, effective January 12, 2009, applies to all eligible citizens or nationals traveling under the VWP. 4. State Dept Announces Designation of A.Q. Khan and Associates for Nuclear Proliferation Activities

The State Department has issued a news release announcing that sanctions will be imposed on 13 individuals and three private companies for their involvement in the A.Q. Khan nuclear proliferation network. This announcement comes after a multi-year U.S. government review of the available information pertaining to the activities of this network.
