3. IPR Center Conducted Inspect Int'l mail for Illegal Drugs Sold Online
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has issued a news release announcing that on November 12, 2008, as part of an international day of action, the federal agencies represented in the National Intellectual Property Rights Coordination Center conducted a one-day inspection surge at international mail facilities located in four U.S. cities in which they processed international mail, particularly pharmaceuticals. 4. Treasury Action Targets Burmese Drug Cartel
The Treasury Department has issued a press release announcing that the Office of Foreign Assets Control has named 26 individuals and 17 companies tied to Burma's Wei Hsueh Kang and the United Wa State Army (UWSA) as Specially Designated Narcotics Traffickers pursuant to the Foreign Narcotics Kingpin Designation Act. 6. Canada Initiates Investigation on Expiry Review of Certain Wire
CBSA has issued a notice announcing that on November 12, 2008, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal initiated an expiry review of its finding made on December 23, 2003 concerning the dumping of certain stainless steel wire originating in or exported from Korea, Switzerland and the U.S., and the subsidizing of such product originating in or exported from India. As a result, the President of the CBSA initiated an investigation on November 13, 2008, to determine whether the expiry of the finding is likely to result in the continuation or resumption of dumping and/or subsidizing of the goods.
