2. House Chairman Comments on U.S.-Mexico Pilot Extension
Representative Oberstar, Chairman of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, released a statement regarding the two-year extension of the U.S.-Mexico cross border trucking pilot in light of Congressional attempts to stop the pilot altogether. Oberstar says that when Congress reconvenes in September, he intends to move a bi-partisan bill to terminate the pilot as quickly as possible, and make certain that this program is shut down. 3. OFAC Designates 14 Entities, 17 Individuals under Kingpin Act
The Office of Foreign Assets Control has published the names of fourteen additional entities and seventeen additional individuals whose property and interests in property have been blocked pursuant to the Foreign Narcotics Kingpin Designation Act. 4. MCC Posts Summary, Text of Compact between U.S. and Namibia
The Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) has published a summary and the complete text of the Millennium Challenge Compact between the U.S. and the Republic of Namibia that was executed on July 28, 2008. 5. New Orleans Man Sentenced for Espionage Involving China
The Justice Department reports that Tai Shen Kuo, of New Orleans, Louisiana, was sentenced to 188 months in prison and required to forfeit $40,000 for conspiracy to deliver national defense information to China. 7. TSA Continues Investigation of Lost Clear-Owned Laptop
TSA continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the loss of a Clear-owned laptop computer on July 26 that contained unencrypted data of approximately 33,000 customers. TSA has verified that a laptop was discovered by Clear officials on August 5th at San Francisco International Airport. It was voluntarily surrendered to TSA officials for forensic examination. 8. CBSA Memo on Obtaining Customs Sufferance Warehouse Licenses
The Canada Border Services Agency posted a revised version Memorandum D4-1-4, Customs Sufferance Warehouses, to provide current information on sufferance warehouse policies and procedures as well as to reflect the new name of the Agency. This memorandum explains the procedures an individual or company must follow to obtain a CBSA customs sufferance warehouse license. It also describes the conditions for operating a sufferance warehouse and the types of sufferance warehouses that may be licensed in Canada. 9. CBSA Updates Its D0 Checklist

11. EC Decides to Make Aviation Security Rules Available to Public
The European Commission has decided that a majority of rules relating to aviation security will be made available to the public. The publication of the EU list of prohibited articles will make it easier for passengers to know what they can - and cannot - take on board an aircraft, while it increases transparency of EU rules in this domain.
