On May 15, 2008, the Senate passed the conference version of H.R. 2419, the Food, Conservation, and Energy Act (the "Farm Bill") by a vote of 81 yeas to 15 nays, which is more than the 2/3 majority needed to override the President's expected veto. The House also passed the conference version of H.R. 2419 on May 14, 2008 by a veto-proof margin. 3. New Orleans Man Pleads Guilty to Espionage Charge Involving China
The Justice Department has issued a press release announcing that Tai Shen Kuo, of New Orleans, La., pleaded guilty to a one-count criminal information charge of conspiracy to deliver national defense information to a foreign government, namely, China. 4. Army Announces Licensing Availability of U.S. Patent on Footwear
The Department of the Army has issued a notice announcing the availability for licensing of U.S. Patent No. U.S. 7,344,751 entitled "Article of Footwear with Temperature Regulation Means" issued April 29, 2008. 5. FDA Technical Amendment to its CGMPs for Dietary Supplements
The Food and Drug Administration has issued a technical amendment to its final rule that established current good manufacturing practice (CGMP) requirements in manufacturing, packaging, labeling, or holding operations for dietary supplements. The technical amendment corrects a codification error in the FDA's final rule. 6. March 2008 Summary of Foreign Agricultural Trade Data
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has posted its updated "Latest U.S. Agricultural Trade Data" to include data for March 2008. 7. CBP JFK to Hold a Protest, Post Entry Adjustment Procedures Seminar
U.S. Customs and Border Protection at JFK Airport issued an Informational Pipeline announcing that it will hold a seminar on Protest and Post Entry Adjustment procedures on May 20, 2008. The seminar will provide an overview of filing procedures and time periods, along with a question and answer period.
