The House Agriculture Committee reports that on May 8, 2008, Congressional negotiators announced a final Farm Bill conference agreement. According to a Committee fact sheet, the conference agreement includes, among many other things, a provision to make country-of-origin labeling for meat and produce mandatory. 3. China and Chile Expand Free Trade Pact

4. LA Public Bulletin on Seaport Entry Division Assignments, Etc.

CBP's Port of Los Angeles has issued a Public Bulletin providing contact information and identifying the functions performed by the Entry Division teams at the Los Angeles/Long Beach (LA/LB) Seaport, i.e., the Entry Teams, Financial Team and Broker Management Office. 5. DC Customs Broker Assn to Hold AES Compliance Seminar, Workshop

The Washington, DC Customs Brokers and Freight Forwarders Association is hosting an Automated Export System Compliance Seminar and an AESPcLink Workshop in Herndon, VA on June 19 and 20, 2008. 6. FAS Proposes to Add DAIRIES Record System for Importers

The Foreign Agricultural Service has issued a notice in which it proposes to add a system of records notice to its inventory of records systems subject to the Privacy Act of 1974 as amended (5 USC 552a), effective June 6, 2008 (unless comments are received that would result in a contrary determination). 7. OFAC Designates 24 Individuals & Entities Under Narcotics EO

The Office of Foreign Assets Control has issued a notice listing 24 newly-designated individuals and entities whose property and interests in property are blocked pursuant to Executive Order 12978 of October 21, 1995, "Blocking Assets and Prohibiting Transactions with Significant Narcotics Traffickers." 8. Millennium Challenge Corporation Quarterly Report

The Millennium Challenge Corporation has issued a notice which reports for the quarter January 1, 2008 through March 31, 2008 with respect to both assistance provided under Section 605 of the Millennium Challenge Act of 2003, and transfers or allocations of funds to other federal agencies pursuant to Section 619(b) of the Act. 9. BIS Final Decision & Order for Kabba & Amir Investments, Inc.

The Bureau of Industry and Security issued its final decision and order in the matter of Kabba & Amir Investments, Inc., dba International Freight Forwarders. BIS found that Kabba & Amir violated the Export Administration Regulations in its involvement with an attempted unlicensed export of items to Cuba. This order includes a three year denial of certain export privileges which could be waived if a $6 million penalty is paid and no further violations occur. BIS has also issued a Recommended Decision and Order in this matter. 10. FDA Detects Hazardous Amounts of Chromium in Dietary Supplements

The Food and Drug Administration has issued a press release announcing that its final analysis of certain flavors of the dietary supplements "Total Body Formula" and "Total Body Mega Formula" has detected hazardous amounts of chromium. The sole distributor of the "Total Body Formula" and "Total Body Mega Formula" products has voluntarily recalled the affected products. 12. Commerce Receives Application for Export Trade Certificate of Review

The Commerce Department has issued a notice stating that it has received an application from Global Trade International LLC for an Export Trade Certificate of Review, which if granted, will protect the holder and members identified in the certificate from specific antitrust actions.
