President Issues Executive Order Blocking Property of Additional Persons Under Syria EO
On February 13, 2008, President Bush signed Executive Order 13460 blocking the property and interests in property of additional persons subject to EO 13338 regarding the national emergency with respect to Syria.

(In May 2004, the President signed EO 13338 which imposed certain export and reexport sanctions and blocked the assets, property and interests in property of certain individuals with respect to Syria.)
Expands Persons Subject to Blocked Property Sanctions Due to Iraq Instability
EO 13460 amends Section 3(a)(iv) of EO 13338 regarding stabilization efforts in Iraq to expand on the persons subject to the blocked property or interest in property sanctions. Amended section 3(a)(iv) reads as follows (<> denotes new text, <-> denotes deleted text):
''(iv) to be or to have been directing responsible for or otherwise significantly contributing toany steps taken actions taken or decisions madeby the Government of Syria to undermine United States and international efforts with respect to the stabilization and reconstruction of Iraq that have the purpose or effect of undermining efforts to stabilize Iraq or of allowing the use of Syrian territory or facilities to undermine efforts to stabilize Iraq; or''.
