2. APHIS to Issue Permits for Importation of Ribes Species Fruits from South Africa
The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service has issued notice advising the public of its decision to begin issuing permits for the importation into the continental U.S. of Ribes species fruits (i.e., currants and gooseberries) from South Africa, based on the findings of a pest risk analysis. 3. CPSC, TAP Enterprises Provisional Settlement Agreement, $100,000 Civil Penalty
The Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued notice of a provisionally-accepted settlement agreement with TAP Enterprises, Inc. dba Cummins Industrial Tools, which contains a civil penalty of $100,000. According to CPSC, this agreement would settle allegations that TAP obtained sufficient information to reasonably support the conclusion that certain air compressors that it imported and sold contained a defect which could create a substantial product hazard or created an unreasonable risk of serious injury or death, but TAP failed to immediately inform the CPSC of such defect or risk, as required by the Consumer Product Safety Act.
