International Trade Data Users (ITDU) has announced that it will hold a conference on the 2007 Harmonized Code changes on December 5, 2007 in Washington, DC. The conference will be followed by a Trade Data Workshop, on December 6, discussing details of trade data; definitions, collections, what's available, and how to get it. The cost for the general public is $125 for the conference only, $150 for the workshop only, and $250 for both the conference and the workshop. 2. EU Survey Identifies Target Countries in Fight against Counterfeiting

The European Commission (EC) has published the results of a survey of European Union (EU) businesses on their experience with Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) enforcement outside the EU in 2005. The results have helped the EC to define a list of priority countries and regions on which to focus activity and resources in the fight against counterfeiting. 3. Indonesia's Standing on the Special 301 Watch List is Improved

The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) has issued a press release announcing its decision to improve Indonesia's standing on the Special 301 Watch List after completion of an Out-of-Cycle review (OCR). According to USTR, this review, which was announced last spring, examined in detail the adequacy and effectiveness of IPR protection in Indonesia. 4. Census' FTD Prepares to Audit AES Records in 2007

Shippers' NewsWire reports that the U.S. Census Bureau's Foreign Trade Division (FTD) plans to start next year auditing export records filed electronically by the export industry in the Automated Export System (AES). According to a Census Bureau employee, the audits are for educational purposes only. (American Shipper Pub 11/06/06, www.americanshipper.com)

5. OFAC Designates 24 Additional Persons Under Narcotics Sanctions

The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has issued a notice, which publishes the names of 24 newly-designated persons whose property and interests in property are blocked pursuant to Executive Order (EO) 12978, entitled "Blocking Assets and Prohibiting Transactions with Significant Narcotics Traffickers." 6. ITA's Exporters' Textile Advisory Committee to Hold Open Meeting

The International Trade Administration (ITA) has issued a notice announcing that a meeting of the Exporters' Textile Advisory Committee will be held on December 7, 2006 in Washington, DC. The meeting will be open to the public with a limited number of seats available.
