The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has issued a notice announcing that it is establishing a new committee, the Homeland Security Information Network Advisory Committee (HSINAC). DHS states that HSINAC is being established to provide organizationally independent advice and recommendations to the leadership of DHS on the requirements of end users within State, local, Federal and tribal governments and the Private Sector regarding the Homeland Security Information Network (HSIN). 2. Shipping Coordinating Committee Meeting on 82nd Session of Maritime Safety Committee, Etc.

The State Department has issued a notice announcing that its Shipping Coordinating Committee (SCC) is scheduled to conduct an open meeting on November 21, 2006 in Washington, DC in order to finalize preparations for the 82nd Session of the Maritime Safety Committee, and associated bodies of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), which is scheduled to meet for November 29-December 8, 2006 in Istanbul, Turkey. 3. Shipping Coordinating Committee Meeting on IMO's 97th Council Session

The State Department has issued a notice announcing that its Shipping Coordinating Committee (SCC) is scheduled to conduct an open meeting on November 2, 2006 in Washington, DC in order to finalize preparations for the International Maritime Organization (IMO) 97th Council session, which is scheduled for November 6-10, 2006 in London. 4. FDA Posts Various Notices to its Web Site

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has posted the following notices to its Web site:

FTC & FDA act against Internet vendors of fraudulent diabetes cures & treatments. FDA has issued a press release announcing that the FDA and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), working with government agencies in Mexico and Canada, have launched a drive to stop deceptive Internet advertisements and sales of products misrepresented as cures or treatments for diabetes. FDA states that the ongoing joint campaign has so far included approximately 180 warning letters and other advisories sent to online outlets in the three countries. FDA statement on "Seafood Choices" report. FDA has posted to its Web site a statement on the "Seafood Choices" report that was recently released by the Committee on Nutrient Relationships in Seafood of the National Academies' Institute of Medicine (the NAS report).
