The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) has issued a press release announcing that the U.S. and Malaysia made solid progress in the second round of Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations which were held during the week of July 17, 2006. 2. Aviation Security Advisory Committee to Hold Telephonic Meeting on August 16, 2006

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has announced a telephonic meeting of the Aviation Security Advisory Committee on August 16, 2006 from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Eastern time. The agenda for the meeting will include presentation of the report and recommendations of the Baggage Screening Investment Study working group. (See TSA notice for dial-in instructions.) 3. AMS Final Rule Amends Voluntary Shell Egg, Poultry, and Rabbit Grading

The Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) has issued a final rule, effective August 23, 2006, which amends the administrative requirements in the regulations governing the voluntary shell egg, poultry, and rabbit grading programs. AMS states that the amendments update the administrative requirements and make minor, nonsubstantive changes for clarity and uniformity of style. 4. AMS Proposes Rule to Adjust Representation on United Soybean Board

The Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) has issued a proposed rule that would adjust the number of members for certain states on the United Soybean Board to reflect changes in production levels that have occurred since the board was reapportioned in 2003 and became effective with 2004 nominations. The adjustments would result in an increase in board membership from 64 to 68 effective with 2007 nominations and appointments. Comments must be received by August 23, 2006. 5. APHIS Proposes to Allow Importation of Certain Fruit from Thailand

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has issued a proposed rule that would amend the fruits and vegetables regulations to allow the importation into the U.S. of litchi, longan, mango, mangosteen, pineapple, and rambutan from Thailand, subject to certain conditions of entry. Written comments must be received on or before September 25, 2006. 6. ITA Revokes Export Trade Certificate of Review for Balmac International Inc.

The International Trade Administration (ITA) has issued a notice announcing that the Secretary of Commerce has determined to revoke the Export Trade Certificate of Review issued to Balmac International Inc. because the company failed to file an annual report as required by law. According to the ITA, the revocation is effective 30 days from July 28, 2006.
