2. President Bush Designates May 21-27, 2006 as World Trade Week
President Bush has issued a presidential document proclaiming May 21 through May 27, 2006, as World Trade Week. The President states that during World Trade Week and throughout the year, the U.S. remains committed to increasing free and fair trade and to improving the standard of living for U.S. citizens. 3. BIS Temporarily Denies Export Privileges of Data Physics Corporation, Etc.
The Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) has issued a notice temporarily denying the export privileges of Data Physics Corporation of San Jose, California, Data Physics China (Shanghai Office), Data Physics China (Beijing Office), Sri Welranta of San Jose, California, and Bill Chen of Beijing, China. This temporary denial is effective for 180 days from May 23, 2006 and was issued as a result of evidence that the above-listed individuals and companies engaged in conduct prohibited by the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). 4. FTC Issues Correction to Final Rule on Energy Consumption of Certain Home Appliances
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has issued an correction to a typographical error in a January 31, 2006 final rule concerning disclosures regarding energy consumption and water use of certain home appliances and other products required under the Energy Policy and Conservation Act.
