The World Customs Organization (WCO) has issued information on a June 27, 2005 - July 1, 2005 training workshop designed to help participants develop consultancy skills using the WCO Customs Capacity Building Diagnostic Framework. The workshop, to be held in Brussels, is designed to develop a pool of consultants capable of constructively using this diagnostic framework to conduct strategic analyses within Customs administrations that will lead to credible capacity building projects. 2. GAO Report Makes Recommendations for DHS Management Integration
The Government Accountability Office (GAO) has issued a report entitled, Department of Homeland Security: A Comprehensive and Sustained Approach Needed to Achieve Management Integration. The GAO finds that while DHS has made some progress in its management integration efforts, it has the opportunity to increase this progress by implementing various recommended actions. 3. New Labor Dept Advisory Committee on American Samoa
The Department of Labor has issued an administrative order establishing a special industry advisory committee regarding the minimum rate or rates to be paid or all industries in American Samoa under the Fair Labor Standards Act. 4. President Continues National Emergency, Sanctions Against Syria
President Bush has issued notice that he is continuing for another year the national emergency blocking property of certain persons and prohibiting the exportation or reexportation of certain goods to Syria.
