Clifford Chance hires partner Karalyn Mildorf, strengthening its national security and trade compliance team
Global law firm Clifford Chance has appointed Karalyn Mildorf as a partner in Washington, DC as the firm expands its international trade and national security offering in the US.
Joining from White & Case, Mildorf brings a deep knowledge of Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) issues.
Mildorf's practice includes advising on all matters relating to CFIUS, including advising on deal structuring and jurisdictional matters, negotiating and implementing CFIUS mitigation agreements, and representing clients on enforcement matters. She also advises clients regarding foreign ownership, control or influence (FOCI) mitigation matters, compliance with the US Outbound Investment Security Program, and national security reviews before Team Telecom.
Global Head of Corporate Sarah Jones said, "Karalyn's experience advising clients on CFIUS issues in transactions across so many industries strengthens our global offering in M&A matters at a time when foreign trade and investments in the US will come under increasing scrutiny."
Head of Americas Litigation & Dispute Resolution Robert Houck said, "We remain focused on being the law firm of choice for cross-border transactions and cross-border investments and trade. Naturally, Karalyn is a great addition to our team as her skills elevate our offerings to clients and help maintain our position at the top for M&A transactions and foreign direct investment."
Mildorf said, "Clifford Chance is well known and highly regarded for its strength in global M&A and FDI, as well as its collaborative and collegial culture. I am thrilled to join the firm, especially as Clifford Chance deepens its US presence and is growing rapidly in this market. As the CFIUS and global FDI landscape continues to evolve and become increasingly complex for cross-border deals, I look forward to working with the Clifford Chance team to guide clients through these critical issues."
This appointment further builds Clifford Chance's growing international trade and national security bench, as Mildorf is the latest to join partner Renée Latour on the CFIUS team.
